studies....

well. the 3rd week of sch has already ended! 벌써 3주를 지났어요! i guess i'm pretty happy with my progress so far. i must admit that my korean wasn't fantastic when i first came. although its still nowhere near the top, i'm pretty satisfied with what i've managed to achieve so far. the way korean's taught in KHU is somewhat similar to SKS. so i'm glad that i took I1 at SKS before coming over cause it kinda helped to prepare me for the lessons here at KHU.

my h/w for the first 2 weeks or so had plenty of red marks on it. n my form teacher even said that my '조사는 큰 문제가 있어요!'. which means that i've a huge problem with my particles. i got this from min ssn back in SG too. also, we write essays using the '요' form back in SG. whereas in korea, we are supposed to write essays using the 'ㄴ/는 다' form. as i wasn't taught this form, i was totally unprepared for it. my 1st essay was written totally in the '요' form. n my teacher decided to read out all the essays! i suspected that something was wrong when everybody's essay was read out & i heard the 'ㄴ/는 다' form instead of the '요' form. it was glaringly obvious that something was wrong. but i thank God for nice classmates & teachers who were willing to help me & guide me. :) my teacher said that my h/w has improved in class a few days back & i was quite happy with it. :) at least i see an improvement. :)

also, i feel that my 말아기 is rather inadequate as compared to the rest of my classmates. i guess its cause they've been in korea for quite sometime already. my teacher would ask us for the meaning of a certain word in korean & i would only be able to say it in either eng/chi while some of my classmates are able to explain it in korean. so i guess that's 1 pt that i've to brush up on. but, my 말아기 has definitely improved as compared to when i was in SG. :)

i'm glad that i'll be staying on for the fall sem. that's the best semester to study cause its all cool & nice. :) i've found more ppl who are staying in korea during sept. so they can play with me! :D i'll be doing research for prof kang at the same time, so i'll be able to earn $$ too. hehe. :P looking forward to it!

we went to eat chicken at this place near sch cause it was hyoro's birthday. n it was pretty gd! loads of banchan & stuff as well. :P 박선생님 was supposed to join us as well, but didn't at the last minute cause she had to go down to the police station. her arm got hit by a car in sch the other day & the driver just drove off. so she made a police report. the police rang her up to inform her that they've already caught the driver. i guess she'll probably get some compensation or something. hehe.

going to Muji @ Seoul station with sachiko onni, shino & probably keum yeo as well. :D

ohhhh. n we went norebang last night! it was supremely fun!! miko was like so high!!! haha. n all the japanese songs they sang were so cutesy!. :P

norebang was great!!! hehe. i wanna go again! mike was damn funny with his gay bar song. haha. he shd do it more often. :D got home at 1155pm, 5 mins before curfew. ;) n onni left the aircon on. hah. i was surprised. hehe. maybe cause we invited her to dinner or something. haha. i hope she keeps this up.

n i introduced her to sachiko & yuko onni today. haah. i got her some lemonade on the pretext of visiting her. haha. she looked super suspicious. haha. like she couldn't believe it. hahahaha. i'm nice. what to do. :D

3rd June : Edae & Coffee Prince Cafe....

headed to Edae in the afternoon for shopping & off to Hongdae after that to visit the Coffee Prince cafe!! it was a bit of a chore trying to find the cafe as i didn't bring my map with me. also, the cab driver didn't know where it was located at as well! it took us quite a fair bit of walking before we finally managed to find it. the drinks & cake there were pretty expensive as well. i think its geared more towards the tourists. i think my ice choco cost like S$10?

aircon's off again....

more on my roomie. haha. since everyone seems to be v entertained. although she turned on the aircon last night, she set the temperature to like 28 degrees? omg, like freaking hot. but at least there's some form of circulation in the room. n its better than just having the window open only. and, i saw that she hung a towel over her bed, kinda like a curtain, to block the wind from the aircon. it was so amusing that i couldn't help but laugh. its like, she's really freaked out over having the aircon turned on!

but... i dunno y. she decided to turn off the aircon again tonight! how how how? i really cannot tahan the heat :( the last time the aircon was off, i only slept at like 2am can. its freaking unfunny. in sg, my aircon's like turned on every single night & its set at 23degrees. ARGH. the aircon won't kill YOU!!!!!!!!

anw, i went to cut my hair today with keum yeo & Jenna @ edae. hehe. sachiko onni recommended the hair salon. i think its a japanese hair salon. hehe. we didn't want to go to a korean one cause we dun wanna look like korean high school clones. i.e: mushroom head or lego head. both are equally bad. so before we had our hair cut, we told them specifically that we DO NOT want straight bangs AT ALL. sachiko onni was saying that u'll have to be careful when cutting yr hair cause its like the trend in korea now. so its v dangerous. haha. i told her that if i really got such a haircut, i'll come to sch with a paperbag over my head! haha.

and.. the best part is yet to come. the guy told us that we might not be able to get our hair cut at first cause there were quite a lot of appts. thus we decided to go in search for another hair salon. we were like inside the salon & about to sit down when the guy called us back & said that we could go over now. soooo, we just rushed out of the salon quickly. keum yeo said that their faces were like super shocked. supremely embarassing! hahaah. i'm not gonna show my face there ever!

keum yeo treated us to fish at sinchon cause we were like so nice to wait for her. hehe. n she brought 우혁 오빠 along too. haha. he looks like so guai. different from keum yeo. n he said that there's like a fish place near KHU as well!! yay!! n he'll bring us to eat it soon. ;) we don't have to travel all the way to sinchon to eat it already. hehe. although we may go back for doc fish. hehe. but more on that later. :)

finally finished my post abt nami island. next up: lotte world? :)

of roomies & more

ok. i thought it was me at first, but its not. i think my room has turned into an exhibition hall of sorts, starring my roomie! i've been telling jenna & the rest abt her & it has gotten them so excited that they keep coming to visit. jenna's scheduled for a visit this coming tues. i really think i should start charging admission fees. even at ₩1000 per visit, i think i'll be rich in no time. :D but yeah. i've no idea y she's like kinda unfriendly. doremon & i came to the conclusion that its her personality that's like diff from mine. cause its like we don't really talk to each other unless absolutely necessary. i thought it was the language barrier at first, but no. i get along just fine with shino & my other japanese friends. n she's kinda fanatic abt cleanliness as well. AND she hates the aircon! omg. u know how hot it has been lately in seoul? n she doesn't wanna turn on the aircon!!!! even with the window open, it doesn't help one bit cause there's like a brick wall outside the window, blocking the wind. n i can't sleep when its too hot! i need to find a way to like make her turn on the AC!

so i figured i'll try killing her with kindness. cause if like someone is nice to u, u can't help but be nice back right? i'm like bored. there's only so much of the computer that i can take. i need to TALK TO SOMEONE. i've resorted to skyping jenna & doremon occasionally when i'm bored. gosh. a typical conversation btw us goes like that:

me: onni, i'm hot!
her: really?? i'm fine.
me: but onni, i'm really really hot! *fans myself vigorously*
her: oh.. ok. but i'm fine.
----------- end of convo---------------

so u see, either she doesn't get the hint or she's pretending that she doesn't get it. jenna said that i shd just heck & turn on the AC whenever she turns it on. doremon's suggestion was even better. turn on the aircon, set it to the lowest temperature, take the AC remote & walk out of the dorm with it. hahaa. evilllll.....

but well. i'm nice. must continue to pray that she'll turn around & TURN ON THE AC!!

met my 도움이 today

my 도움이's real nice. her name's 자은 & we have quite a lot in common! we were both born in the same year, our bdaes are 5 days apart, same shoe size, same blood type & we're both christians. haha. we're meeting up again next tues. she was nice enough to help me with my work just now as well. :) at first, i was quite taken aback when she asked me abt my blood type. cause we don't usually ask abt this in SG. then she explained that it was kinda like a superstition & that our blood type is supposed to represent characters. n so, she said that our blood type means that we like meeting new ppl, we're nice etc etc etc.. i esp agree with the last pt. :D she's quite cute. hehe. n i asked her y korean girls love wearing heels & she said its cause they're short. haha. but i dun think so. i've seen quite a few tall ones around.
