5th June: DMZ Tour!

it was raining on the day we were supposed to go to the DMZ. i guess its both good & bad in a way. good in that the rain helped clear up all the polluted air n stuff, so we cld see north korea clearly. but bad in that it was v v v cold!

the trip was a very good experience. we went on the full day tour which included imjinggak, dorasak station, 3rd tunnel, dora observatory & panmunjeon. i think panmunjeon was the coolest out of them all though. cause it was there that we really got to see north korea up close. :D the whole atmosphere there was pretty tense too. n it was so quiet! the silence was really unnatural. it felt like they were playing a cat & mouse game or something. plus when we went up to the tower, the north korean guard took out his binoculars to look at us as we were happily snapping away. i guess he wanted to intimidate us or something.

our tour guide for the panmunjeon tour was hilariously funny. she would be like. ok. no pointing here. if u point, the north koreans will snap a picture of u n use it as propaganda. n once we were out of that particular area, she would go, ok. u can point all you want now! haha. the tone in which she said it was really funny. haha. i think she didn't even realise how funny she was. :D

there were live bombs ard the area too, with sign posts marking them out. it was kinda freaky though.. haha.

n as usual, i'll let the pictures do the talking!

i like how it says that Doraksan Station is not the last station of the South, but the first station towards the North. :P

standing on the south
